About
We are dedicated to TB & leprosy elimination in the Pacific
The PEARL study is a non-randomised whole-of-population implementation study to screen and treat all residents of South Tarawa aged 3 and above (or younger if recent TB/leprosy contacts) for TB and leprosy disease and infection.
Delivered as a public health intervention in collaboration with the Kiribati Ministry of Health and Medical Services, the PEARL study uses innovative technologies and treatment regimens to make population-wide active case finding for TB and leprosy feasible and affordable in a Pacific context.
The PEARL study aspires to create a template for future TB and Leprosy elimination strategies in the Pacific region.
